From the Middle Persian ancestor of Classical Persian جولاهک (jūlāhak).

Noun[edit]

جُلَاهِق or جَلَاهِق (julāhiq or jalāhiqm (plural جُلَاهِقَات (julāhiqāt) or جَلَاهِقَات (jalāhiqāt)) (obsolete)

  1. a reel or ball of thread
  2. bullets for shooting by means of a sling or crossbow, projectiles
    Synonyms: رَصَاص (raṣāṣ), گُلَل (gulal), بُنْدُق (bunduq)
  3. ellipsis of قَوْس جُلَاهِق (qaws julāhiq), crossbow
