Etymology[edit]

From Persian گناه (gonâh), from Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (wnʾs /⁠wināh⁠/), 𐫇𐫏𐫗𐫀𐫍 (wynʾh /⁠wināh⁠/, sin, crime); compare also borrowed into Arabic جُنَاح (junāḥ) and doublet of ܓܘܼܢܚܵܐ (gunḥā).
