From กาญจน (gaan-jà-ná-, gold) +‎ อภิเษก (à-pí-sèek, royal celebration; royal festivity); calque of English golden jubilee. Cognate with Lao ຄານ​ຊາ​ພິ​ເສດ (khān sā phi sēt).
