Japanese[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Wasei eigo (和製英語; pseudo-anglicism), derived from moody.

Adjective[edit]

ムーディー (mūdī-na (adnominal ムーディー (mūdī na na), adverbial ムーディー (mūdī ni ni))

  1. having atmosphere

Usage notes[edit]

This is a false friend as it differs slightly from moody in English. One could say "ムーディーな店" which would translate correctly as "a shop with lots of atmosphere" but incorrectly as "a moody shop."
