Japanese[edit]

Phrase[edit]

愛している (あいしている, aishiteiru)

  1. "I'm in love with you".

Etymology[edit]

From 愛 (ai) - love and している (shiteiru) - present progressive of する(suru), to do (see here). Literally meaning 'loving'. As the person in love is understood & the person, the person loves is also understood both are left out.

Usage notes[edit]

It can also be written shorter (therefore becoming slang) by leaving out the い (i) in いる (iru) so it becomes 愛してる (aishiteru).
