(しみ) (shimi, growing thickly, an element also found in (しみ) (shimini)[1]) + さぶ (-sabu, to act like, to become like (the noun suffixed)[1][2], a suffix which forms upper bigrade conjugation verbs from nouns,[1][2] superseded by さびる (-sabiru))
