  1. Suffix used to form agent nouns (both animate and inanimate) from verbs in -и́ровать (-írovatʹ), -ирова́ть (-irovátʹ) and -ова́ть (-ovátʹ) whose stem ends in (-l): -ator, -er
    манипули́ровать (manipulírovatʹ, to manipulate) + ‎-ятор (-jator) → ‎манипуля́тор (manipuljátor, manipulator (animate and inanimate))
