Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Prakrit 𑀓𑁂𑀭 (kera, possessive marker). Cognate with Assamese -ৰ (-r), Maithili केर (kēr), Odia -ର (-rô), and the -रा (-rā) in Hindi मेरा (merā), तेरा (terā), etc.
