@Bezimenen, Kiril kovachev, Benwing2: Hi. The Bulgarian surnames need a bit of attention. Do they need inflections or just feminine and plural forms in the header? Also stresses are missing everywhere. I used to think that Ива́нов is the correct stress for Bulgarian surnames but it seems a patronymic but the surname is stressed the same way as Russian "Ивано́в". Is that right? Pls take a look to see if any changes or improvements are required. Remove the request for inflections if it's unnecessary. @Atitarev: I have heard both Ивано́в and Ива́нов, but I cannot elaborate which is the standard or if there is any. Regarding the inflection, I think as a surname the lemma is technically uninflected. The only other inflectional form is the vocative, which however is identical to the nominative (unlike the proper name Иван (Ivan): nom. Иван -> voc. Иване). The pl. Иванови, fem. Иванова are technically different words. Or equivalently, they could be treated as different iterations of the possessive adjective Иванов (Ivanov): e.g. "Иванова(та) идея" (f) /(the) Ivan's idea/ "Иваново(то) мнение" (n) /(the) Ivan's opinion/, etc. It depends how one would like to treat the lemma: as a proper noun or as a possessive (non-comaparable) adjective. @Bezimenen, Benwing2: Thanks for your response, @Безименен. I still think we need to display feminine and plural forms, if not in the declension, then in the headword. The current template doesn't take |pl= parameter, though. Yes, we could have possessive adjectives. If we use a declension table, it should just display Иванов, Иванова, Иванови - for surnames, both stress patterns, no definite forms or vocative, the same for possessive adjectives.

BTW, Иванова is also a feminine form in Russian, which is also in documents but it is a form of Иванов, so it is shown in the declension tables, like Ивановы (plural).

@Atitarev: If it's going to be easier this way, add the full inflection. I have no objections. It's matter of technicalities, anyway.

PS Yes, Иванов can be patronymic, too. Bulgarian patronynic system does not have any specific ending. The ending -ич (which Russian uses as patronymic marker) in Bulgarian is used to denote affiliation to an aristocratic family or a household. Безименен (talk) 11:26, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
