- These requests are all spelling issues, objecting to the أ (ʔ) spelling in favor of ؤ (ʔ): يَؤُوب (yaʔūb), تَؤُوب (taʔūb), etc. I don't think it has any merit — both spellings should exist. M. I. Wright (talk) 17:56, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
- @TheDaveRoss The rules for how to spell hamza (glottal stop) are complex but in the past I spent a good deal of time investigating and documenting them; see Hamza, where the detailed rules are my doing. There are some disagreements as to how to spell the hamza in certain cases, as User:M. I. Wright notes, and this is probably what is tripping up the IP; I haven't looked into this in awhile but I think I got them right when I first implemented Module:ar-verb. (The form أأوب in particular looks a bit strange to me but that doesn't mean it's wrong.) Benwing2 (talk) 18:08, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Benwing2: Actually, there's that orthography rule that states two alifs can't usually appear one after the other, right? So أَأُوب (ʔaʔūb) may be the only one justified in getting deleted. I'm going to bring in @Fenakhay, who's much better-acquainted with Fusha writing & rules than I am. M. I. Wright (talk) 18:26, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Benwing2: As @M. I. Wright said, two alifs can be appear side by side unless it is the interrogative pronoun أ (ʔ). As for two waws by side, it is fine to write as so but the grammar school in Egypt differs in this matter and regards this as a mistake. In so they write the hamza without a seat; i.e. : رؤوس and رءوس. So I think only أَأُوب (ʔaʔūb) should be removed. Fenakhay (talk) 18:41, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
