@Vahagn_Petrosyan: What are those Armenian words, I can't seem to find them კვარია (talk) 14:04, 28 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

@კვარია: nice riddle. His Turkish gloss დემურყაინაღ (demurq̇ainaɣ) must be the dəmircaynaq (literally iron-claw) of the Transcaucasian Muslims, composed of dəmir + caynaq, qaynaq (claw), and found in this bird name. His Armenian gloss is Middle Armenian քարժանկ (kʻaržank), Lori dialect քառչանգ (kʻaṙčʻang, crayfish), which folk etymologically is usually explained in Armenian as քար (kʻar, stone) +‎ ճանկ (čank, claw), but in reality is an Iranian borrowing: see خرچنگ (xarčang)․ Perhaps he mistakenly thought the Armenian word is the equivalent of the Turkish. Anyway, it's not a bird. Vahag (talk) 15:06, 28 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
