Is this even attested in Dutch? Not much on DBNL and BGC, most of the results were either in dictionaries or in larger passages written in French. ←₰-→ Lingo ^Bingo _Dingo (talk) 10:50, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

I couldn't find any correspondence between OCRed text and scanned image in that second link. (Google is confused by the two column layout?) The plain text form has "Enveloppes, witte, gekleurde, velijn en vergé damassé en den dien grond aangetoond door den Heer van DER LINDEN ; hij vertelle." So now we have two French words, vergé damassé. Vox Sciurorum (talk) 14:01, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

It is a matter of column lines glued together. The proper full phrase is “Enveloppes, witte, gekleurde, velijn en vergé damassé en dentelle.” The second “en” here is not the Dutch conjunction but the French preposition. (And Mr. van der Linden verklaarde.)  --Lambiam 22:21, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
