swamper[edit]

Needs cleanup (and probably verification too). I note that the "US definitions" include UK-specific terms. --EncycloPetey 19:31, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

This is also on WT:RFC. Another user suggested a verificiation. The definitions are:

  2. (Australia) a person who travels by foot but has his belongings on a wagon.
  3. (North America) A person who clears a road for lumberers in a forest or swamp.
  4. (North America) A general employee in a liquor saloon; a cook's assistant.
  5. (North America) A truck driver's assistant; an assistant to a driver of horses, mules or bullocks.
  6. (North America) A person who lives in a swampy area.
  7. (North America) A handyman.

  • I've cited almost all the senses. They're all in my OED and other dicts, so I think it's basically fine -- although more cites would always be nice. Ƿidsiþ 15:29, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Striking: I'll replace the {{rfv}} with {{rfquote}}, since no one seems to object to Widsith's statement that it's basically fine, and since it's not really sporting to RFV this many senses at once! Anyone wishing to re-RFV any of these senses may do so, but please use {{rfv-sense}} and focus on the specific senses you doubt. —RuakhTALK 23:58, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
