Usage

This template may be used in Wiktionary entries to format quotations from William Lorimer's 1983 Scots version of the New Testament.

Parameters

The template takes the following parameters:

• |1= or |book= – mandatory: the name of the book of the Bible quoted from; see the table below for the full list. The name will be displayed in Middle English, but must be entered in Modern English.
• |2= or |chapter= – mandatory: the chapter of the book quoted in Arabic numerals, following the work.
• |3=, |verse=, or |verses= – mandatory: the verse(s) of the chapter quoted in Arabic numerals, following the work. If quoting a range of verses, separate the verse numbers with an en dash, like this: |verses=10–11.
• |4=, |text=, or |passage= – mandatory the passage quoted from the Bible.
• |5=, |t=, or |translation= – mandatory a translation of the passage quoted into contemporary English.
• |page=, or |pages= – mandatory in some cases: the page number(s) of the work. If using |pages= to quote a range of pages, separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this: |pages=1–2.
• |footer= – a comment about the quotation.
• |brackets= – use |brackets=on to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
• |termlang= – by default, the template categorizes entries on which it is placed into Category:Middle English terms with quotations. To have the template categorize an entry into Category:English terms with quotations instead, use |termlang=en.
