Are you learning Māori? (I hope so!) Do you know about the online edition of the Te Aka dictionary? Or is this just a passing interest?

No, I'm not, sorry. I just thought this word was appropriate because of today's events.

That's a bit of a letdown, but it's OK... I just always hope that somebody's going to learn the languages I like so they can, say, explain the finer points of Māori grammar to me.

I've got some teach-yourself materials for Māori, but it's been a while since I did much with them. Just at my desk at the mo' is Teach Yourself Māori, a slim volume by K.T. Harawira, sitting next to Samuel Elbert's Spoken Hawaiian. I've got a couple other Māori learning books on the shelves at home. But I'm not sure I could offer much about finer points just yet.  :)
