Welcome[edit]

Welcome[edit]

Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.

If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.

These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:

  • Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
  • Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
  • Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
  • If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
  • If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
  • Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) which automatically produces your username and timestamp.
  • You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.

Enjoy your stay at Wiktionary! PseudoSkull (talk) 17:48, 23 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Categorizing Mongolian suffixes by the unrounded back variant[edit]

Hello, I'm sorry I didn't send this earlier while you were active, but I've reverted most of your changes that changed the suffixes in Mongolian etymologies to their harmonic realization.

For categorization purposes, it is much more practical to sort suffixes by a single variant to avoid redundant definitions and unnecessary splitting of categories, if you disagree with this choice please discuss further.

I hope you return at some point, we have no active native speaker at present. Crom daba (talk) 18:43, 23 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I am a native speaker, and a linguist. The derivational suffixes of -уул and -үүл have same semantics like from verbs to nouns but the first is for masculine verbs and the second is for feminine verbs. So that, I think they deserve different categories. Sorry for the terrible late response. K batsuren (talk) 16:12, 3 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

User talk:K.batsuren[edit]

Please do not move your user talk page to User talk:K.batsuren as that username doesn't exist. I assume perhaps you want to change your username. In which case, you should visit meta:Special:GlobalRenameRequest at the Wikimedia Meta Wiki. PseudoSkull (talk) 17:07, 7 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

-үүл[edit]

Can you explain why you nominated this for deletion? Your reason "belongs to -үүл" doesn't make sense, because it's the same page. Ultimateria (talk) 01:13, 17 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

I didn't delete that page. Someone did it. K.batsuren (talk) 17:58, 4 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

This case is same as Hungarian adjective-forming suffixes of the pair of '-ias' and '-ies'. And both deserving different pages. K.batsuren (talk) 18:00, 4 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
