boy bishop (plural boy bishops)

  1. A boy appointed to a bishopric; a very young bishop.
  2. (historical) In many mediaeval English cathedrals and other collegiate institutions, a boy elected to act or parody the role of a bishop for a part of the Christmas period (traditionally from St Nicholas' Day to Innocents' Day).
