From Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *dəpah, from Proto-Austronesian *dəpah. Cognate with Tagalog dipa and Malagasy refy.

- fathom, a unit of measurement taking up the length from the tip of the right hand to the tip of the left hand; arm span.
- Panjang depa seseorang manusia kebiasaannya sama panjang dengan tingginya.
- The length of one's arm span is usually as long as one's height is tall.
