Albanian[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From dialectal i udobë (“easy”), from a South Slavic language, compare Old Church Slavonic удобь (udobĭ, “easy”) and Serbo-Croatian udoban (“comfortable”); ultimately from Proto-Slavic *dobъ (“good, well, nice”).[1][2] Orel describes it as derived from an earlier dobë, whence dobi (“benefit”), borrowed into Albanian from a South Slavic language, and ultimately derived from Proto-Slavic *dobъ, which itself is not attested South Slavic, where *dobrъ is widespread.[3]
