Hungarian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

együtt- +‎ érez

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): [ˈɛɟːytːeːrɛz]
  • Hyphenation: együtt‧érez
  • Rhymes: -ɛz

Verb[edit]

együttérez

  1. (intransitive) to sympathize or empathize with, feel for, (of one's heart) go out to (someone -val/-vel)

Usage notes[edit]

The term was written as separate words irrespective of its meaning until 2015. However, according to the effective spelling regulation, it is written as separate words only in the (much less common) meaning ’feel (sense/perceive/smell etc.) something together with someone else’, otherwise (referring to sympathy) it is written as one word, without a space inside.
