Finnish[edit]

Etymology[edit]

liikenne (traffic) +‎ pako (flight)

Noun[edit]

liikennepako

  1. (law) hit-and-run (crime of fleeing the scene of a traffic accident)

Usage notes[edit]

Unlike "hit-and-run", the Finnish term only refers to the flight from the scene, i.e. it is a separate crime from causing the accident. Also a nonguilty party can make himself culpable for it.
