Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Finno-Ugric *omti (cavity) or *oŋti, the same root from which onsi (hollow, space) derives. Cognate with Hungarian odú (haunt, animal hole) and Erzya ундо (undo, hole, cavity)[1]
