  1. (UK) A double-deck bus with an open, or partially open, top deck.

Usage notes[edit]

Double-deck buses and trams were originally open on the top deck, but this was enclosed on later vehicles and an open top deck became the exception. Open-toppers are presently used on sightseeing tours, seafront services, victory parades and other special occasions.
