     Ta bạc đức nối ngôi, không thể gánh nổi mệnh trời và lòng người, hướng về người có đức. Vậy nay Thái sư An quốc vương Mạc Đăng Dung, là người tư chất thông minh, đủ tài văn võ bên(,) ngoài đánh dẹp, bốn phương đều phục, bên trong trị nước, trăm họ yên vui, công đức rất lớn lao, trời người đều qui phụ. Nay nhường ngôi báu cho người có đức, để hợp mệnh trời, để yên nhân dân. Kính vậy thay.

     I, of meager virtue, inherited the throne; (yet I) cannot shoulder either the Mandate of Heaven or the people's hearts, (so I) look for virtuous people. Now the Grand Master – the Prince who-Calms-the-Nation Mạc Đăng Dung – is a man substantially intelligent, fully talented in terms of civil and military matters. He fought and suppressed (enemies) outsides, from the four directions everyone submits (to him); insides, he governs well the nation, the common people enjoy peace and bliss. His merits and virtue are so great that both Heaven and Humanity turn towards him. Now (I will) yield the throne to (this) virtuous man, so as to accord with the Mandate of Heaven and bring peace to the people. Respect this!
