From Proto-Finnic *toomi, from Proto-Uralic *ďëme. Cognates include Estonian toom, toomingas, Northern Sami duobma, Erzya льом (lʹom), Komi-Zyrian льöм (lʹöm) and Mansi льам (ĺām) [1]
