From *նո- (*no-) grown with an obscure suffix -դ (-d) also found in աստ (ast) as -տ (-t).[1]

Etymology 2[edit]
Perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *h₂endʰ-, with cognates including Tocharian A ānt, Tocharian B ānte (“surface”), Sanskrit अन्धस (ándhas, “sprout of the Soma-plant”), Ancient Greek ἄνθος (ánthos).[1]
Alternatively, from Proto-Armenian *and- (“door-frame, vestibule”) (whence դրանդի (drandi)) with a semantic shift “door-frame, threshold, vestibule” → “court, courtyard” → “estate; household; family” → “the outer part of estate/properties”.[2][3] See դրանդի (drandi) for more.
