Inherited from Proto-Turkic *yatgak (bed), from *yat- (to lie, to sleep), the same root of یاتمق (yatmak, to lie down, sleep) and یتاغان (yatağan, type of sword); cognate with Azerbaijani yataq and Crimean Tatar yataq.
