Etymology[edit]

From Pali lokantara (literally interworld; another world), from loka (world) + antara (difference; gap; in between; space; etc), equivalent to Thai โลก (lôok) +‎ อันตร. Compare Sanskrit लोकान्तर (lokāntara). Cognate with Khmer លោកន្តរ (lookntɑɑ).
