French

Alternative forms

Noun

Écossais m (plural Écossais, feminine Écossaise)

  1. Scotsman

Usage notes

  • In older French practice, capital letters did not take diacritics, so É becomes E. This was mostly done because of technical constraints. Formal orthotypography maintains the diacritics.
