Alternative forms[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Borrowed from Latin Erythraea, from Ancient Greek Ἐρῠθραίᾱ (Eruthraíā).
Pronunciation[edit]
Proper noun[edit]
Érythrée f
- Eritrea (a country in East Africa)
Usage notes[edit]
- In older French practice, capital letters did not take diacritics, so É becomes E. This was mostly done because of technical constraints. Formal orthotypography maintains the diacritics.
