Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish ایشیمق (ışımak), from Old Turkic [script needed] (yaşu-, to shine),[1] from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Turkic *jạĺ(č)- (to blaze, flame).[2]

Cognate with Chuvash ҫиҫме (śiśme, to shine).
