Originated as a small letter o written above the letter u, from an earlier spelling uo.
Diacritical mark
- A diacritical mark of the Latin script, called kroužek (“ring”) in Czech, and found on Ů/ů.
Usage notes
On the letter Ů/ů, the ring indicates that it is pronounced as Ú/ú but may alternate with O/o in grammar.
