Etymology

Ancient Greek Νάρκισσος (Nárkissos), which is often connected to νάρκισσος (nárkissos, “daffodil”) due to Narcissus being turned into a flower, but which term was borrowed first or whether there is a connection at all is unclear. Or, possibly a borrowing from Aegean/Tyrsenian.
