[edit]Learned borrowing from Ancient Greek ἔθιμον (éthimon, “usage”) (plural ἔθιμος (éthimos, “customs”)), neuter of ἔθιμος (éthimos), from ἔθω (éthō) + -ιμος (-imos), with semantic loan from French coutume.[1]
