Etymology[edit]
From Koine Greek ἀναβαθμίς (anabathmís), from ἀνα- (ana-, “up, upwards”) + βαθμίς (bathmís, “step, rung”), from Ancient Greek βαίνω (baínō, “to go, to mount”).[1]
