Ancient Greek

Alternative forms

Etymology

There has been an attempt to link this word with βατέω (batéō, to mount) but the presence of the alternative forms dismisses this theory. Furnée correctly connects the word with σπάταλος (spátalos, lewd, lascivious), which indicates a common Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 2 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "pregrc" is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF. origin.
