Learned borrowing from Byzantine Greek κατάπληκτος (katáplēktos), from Ancient Greek κᾰτᾰπλήσσω (kataplḗssō, to flabbergast, amaze) + -τος (-tos), the former from κατα- (kata-) +‎ πλήσσω (plḗssō).[1]
