Etymology

Traditionally compared to Latin calix (deep bowl, cup) but a variation *a/u is unknown in Indo-European words. For the same reason, κάλυξ (kálux, husk) is not identical with this word. The presence of the variation leads to a Lua error in Module:parameters at line 239: Parameter 2 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "pregrc" is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF. origin, as well as the typical Pre-Greek suffix "-ικ-".
