Ancient Greek[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Ending as in μόλυβδος (mólubdos) and κίβδος (kíbdos). A connection with λευκός (leukós, white) is morphologically hard to explain, as the suffix -δος is not productive. According to Beekes, the word is probably Pre-Greek.
