Etymology[edit]

Maybe related to Armenian մունջ (munǰ, mute) and thus from Proto-Indo-European *mundyo- and cognate with Ancient Greek μύδος (múdos), μυκός (mukós), μυττός (muttós, dumb), Latin mutus and Sanskrit मूक (mūka, dumb).
