[edit]Etymology
[edit]According to Lewy, it is a Semitic loan, confronting Hebrew נטף (naṭaf, “stacte”) and Aramaic נטופא (nātōpā, “drip; odoriferous resin”). However, the variations dental/zero and ε/ι could also point to a Pre-Greek word.
