From Ancient Greek περίπτωσις (períptōsis), from περιπίπτω (peripíptō, “to fall”).

περίπτωση • (períptosi) f (plural περιπτώσεις)

case (an actual event, situation, or fact)
Σ’ αυτήν την περίπτωση, όντως έλεγε την αλήθεια.
S’ aftín tin períptosi, óntos élege tin alítheia.
In this case, he really was telling the truth.

Στην καλύτερη περίπτωση, θα χάσεις μόνο είκοσι ευρώ.
Stin kalýteri períptosi, tha cháseis móno eíkosi evró.
