Neuter substantive of Ancient Greek πλυντήριος (pluntḗrios, relating to washing), from πλύνω (plúnō, to wash clothes) +‎ -τήρῐος (-tḗrios, adjectival suffix), with semantic loan from English washing machine.[1]
