Russian[edit]

Моско́вское вре́мя

Noun[edit]

МСК (MSKm inan (indeclinable)

  1. Initialism of Москва́ (Moskvá)
  2. Initialism of Моско́вское вре́мя (Moskóvskoje vrémja, Moscow Time, Moscow Standard Time) (the time zone in western Russia)
    • МСК+9
      MSK+9
Moscow Standard Time+9 (nine hours after Moscow Time, the time zone in Kamchatka, eastern Russia)

Usage notes[edit]

In sense 2, МСК is used as a reference for the eleven time zones of Russia. A number with a minus is for the time zone west of Moscow, Kaliningrad Time (МСК−1, UTC+2); while any number with a plus is for the other nine time zones east of Moscow.

For example, МСК+5 means "five hours after Moscow Time", the time zone in Irkutsk (МСК+5, UTC+8).
