Russian[edit]

Станция «Электрозаводская»

Etymology[edit]

From электрозаво́д (elektrozavód, electric factory) +‎ -ская (-skaja). From a project name and an electric trust.

The newest, colloquial stress comes from the re-analyzed using the compound эле́ктро- (eléktro-) +‎ заводска́я (zavodskája) with loose attachment of morphemes. Whereas the stress заводска́я (zavodskája) comes from the obsolete stress заво́дская (zavódskaja). Also, there can be no banalization process with a hypothetical re-analysis in the form of эле́ктро- (eléktro-) +‎ заво́д (zavód) +‎ -ская (-skaja), because the wordform заво́д (zavód) already has a final stress; compare with великово́зрастный (velikovózrastnyj, overage), where the word form во́зраст (vózrast) has an initial stress.

Pronunciation[edit]

  • Электрозаводска́я: IPA(key): [ɪˌlʲektrəzəvɐt͡sˈkajə] (newest, colloquial)
  • Электрозаво́дская: IPA(key): [ɪlʲɪktrəzɐˈvot͡skəjə]
