[edit]Inherited from Proto-Slavic *zapęstьje. By surface analysis, за- (za-) + пясць (pjascʹ) + -е (-je). Cognate with Russian запя́стье (zapjástʹje) and Ukrainian зап'я́стя (zapʺjástja).
