Bulgarian[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Origin disputed; possibly via игла́ (iglá, “needle”), although spurious, due to theorized inheritance from Proto-Slavic *jagla (“grain”) in ягли́ка and subsequent reduction to егли́ка and ultimately игли́ка; cognates of ягли́ка include Serbo-Croatian јаглика, whereas parallels of агли́ка are drawn in Romanian aglică and Albanian aguliçe. Another reckoning postulates Greek άγλυκος (áglykos, “bitter”) as the origin.
