Etymology

Probably related to Mongolic ᠬᠢᠲᠠᠳ (kitad, China, plural; Mongolian хятад (xjatad), Buryat хитад (xitad), Kalmyk китд (kitd)). See also Tuvan кыдат (kıdat), Khakas хыдат (xıdat), Southern Altai кыдат (kïdat).
