Originally borrowed from Old Church Slavonic лєопардъ (leopardŭ), later reinforced by German Leopard, ultimately from Late Latin leopardus, from Ancient Greek λεόπαρδος (leópardos). Doublet of лꙗмпа́ртъ (ljampárt).
