лён
Appearance
Ket
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Proto-Yeniseian *dˡon (“lip”). Perhaps related to Ket лёсь (lōsʲ, “vulva”), itself from Proto-Yeniseian *dˡos ~ *dˡot (“vulva”).[1]
Pronunciation
[edit]Noun
[edit]лён (lōn) n (plural лёняӈ)
Usage notes
[edit]- Both лён and its plural лёняӈ can be used to refer to lips, especially in the Southern Ket varieties, where the latter is more common.
- Both лён and лөн are used across Ket varieties, the former representing a palatalized and the latter representing a depalatalized pronunciation of the anlaut, depending on the speaker.
